Be Careful What You Pray For

Some of you blog readers may be wondering why I would decide to  come to a small town in Ethiopia.

It’s a long story so I won’t start quite at the beginning and hopefully I can keep you interested. Last spring in 2009,I found myself questioning my desires. You see I have been praying for a Christian husband for 6 years. I decided to ask God if my desire was not in His will then would he change my desire and break my heart for the things that break His. Be careful what you pray for.

It  wasn’t long before I felt a strong pull of the Holy Spirit in a new direction for me. I was reading in the book of Isaiah and the words ‘send me Lord’  caught hold of me , now I just needed to know  where.  I continued to pray for several months , was I really being called to the mission field ? I decided to ask my interim pastor Ray Horst, to pray about it .I also invited two trusted prayer warriors to  pray on this matter. Just 10 days later I received a phone call from our mission director,  would I consider being part of a 2 woman team to go to Ethiopia? I prayed for the next 24 hours but I knew by morning I would  if I was selected.

So I picked up the phone and called the number  Guy Scott had given me. I was on the phone with Dale Boudro  and we talked back and forth and asked each other a few  questions. When he asked my age I was almost reluctant to tell him I was 50.  I think  it’s the only time anyone told me 50 was perfect. So now here I am in Addis Ababa writing a blog about the work we are doing for our Lord.  Praise and Glory be to our God.

joyfully yours in Christ,  CW

post script:    These two scriptures are my guide posts in my work here in Burayu …….. Psalm 37-4      Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your ways to the Lord, trust also in Him and he shall bring it to pass.

James    1-27        Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this; to care for widows and orphans in their distress and to keep oneself unspotted from the world .

Next to prayer, Gods word is a pure most powerful tool .  <>< CW
